The Oversight Committee has announced that they have officially found Hunter Biden in contempt of court after refusing to be deposed behind closed doors for a second time.
The vote came after Biden crashed a contempt hearing earlier in the day on Wednesday. House Oversight Committee Chair Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., spoke to the press about Biden’s actions, calling them a stunt.
In a video shared on X, Comer explained, “Today, he came here. He sat on the front row on the day we voted to hold him in contempt. He didn’t bother to tell anyone he was coming or try to work with us on a date for a deposition.”
Comer added that no one knew Biden was there until it was pointed out to them. He says, “We heard Moskowitz say that the president’s son was here. He was sitting there to answer questions when Moskowitz’s time expired.”
According to CNBC, Biden entered the Rayburn House Office Building hearing room with his attorney, Abbe Lowell, and another lawyer. CNBC reported that Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., addressed him after he sat down, saying, “I’m looking at you, Hunter Biden, as I’m speaking to you. I think that Hunter Biden should be arrested right here, right now and go straight to jail.”
It wasn’t just Mace who wanted to speak to him. RSBN reported that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., wanted to ask him some questions. However, just as Greene was about to address him, Biden left the room.
Comer explained why he thinks Biden came into the room, “What we saw today, unfortunately, was a stunt by the president’s son to come in.” He adds, “So, I don’t know what the purpose of the stunt was, but at the end of the day, Hunter Biden doesn’t set the rules for Congress.”
In response to Biden’s disregard for the law, Comer outlined the House’s plan with the move to hold him in contempt. “We passed it out of committee in both the Oversight and Judiciary that will now move to the House floor, I would assume, next week,” said Comer.
