A new poll shows that voters would still show support for President Trump in the 2024 general election regardless of whether he is convicted of his alleged crimes within the courts.
A recent Harvard/Harris poll conducted last week showed that out of 2,011 registered voters, 54 percent stated they would still vote for Trump if he were convicted of crimes in his case over allegedly mishandling classified documents, giving the 45th president an 8-point lead over Joe Biden.
For questions regarding a possible conviction around the Jan. 6 events and alleged election interference, 50 percent of voters stated they would still support Trump, giving the 45th president and Biden a tie for the election.
Trump has been leading within the polls against Biden for the upcoming election, with a recent survey by ActiVote predicting that Trump could win with a 5-point lead.
As Biden has continually hit record-low disapproval ratings among voters, with some polls suggesting that 52 percent of Americans don’t agree with the president’s handling of the country, Trump has continued to gain ground among key voting blocs Democrats once hand a stronghold on.
A New York Times/Siena College poll from late February showed that out of 980 registered voters, Trump is now evenly split among women and is leading among Hispanics. This comes as support for Biden among Black voters is shrinking.
