If a rematch of the 2020 presidential election were held today, Donald Trump would defeat Joe Biden, according to a new poll conducted by Emerson College.
The poll asked respondents who they would vote for in a hypothetical 2024 presidential election, and according to the poll, Trump would beat Biden 45% to 42%.
The poll also found that President Trump was viewed favorably by 59% of voters, and Joe Biden was viewed as favorable by only 47% of voters.
Emerson College Poll Executive Director Spencer Kimball said, “Biden struggles among Independent voters: just 28% approve of the job he is doing while 64% disapprove. When looking at the Midterm generic congressional ballot, Independents break 28% for Democrats, 42% with Republicans, and 31% are undecided.”
These poll results were in line with a series of September polls conducted by McLaughlin & Associates, which found that if the 2024 election were today, 50 percent would vote for the 45th President while only 47 percent would vote for Biden.
The polls are also looking positive for Republicans in the crucial 2022 midterms in which President Trump has endorsed many candidates.
According to a Wall Street Journal poll, “46% of voters said they would back a Republican candidate for Congress if the election were today, compared with 41% who favored a Democrat, with Republicans gaining support among Black and Hispanic voters since the last Journal poll.”
The stakes got higher for Trump endorsed candidates this week when President Trump withdrew his endorsement of Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., who is running to fill the United States Senate seat of outgoing Sen. Richard Shelby.
“Mo Brooks made a horrible mistake recently when he went ‘woke’ and stated, referring to the 2020 Presidential Election Scam, ‘Put that behind you, put that behind you,’ despite the fact that the election was rife with fraud and irregularities,” Trump said via his Save America PAC.
Trump’s endorsement will play a crucial role for Republican candidates hoping to take back the House and Senate this November.
And if current polling numbers remain the same, the races could land Trump and the Republicans back in the White House in 2024.
