President Donald Trump continues to win popularity over Joe Biden among likely U.S. voters, according to a Rasmussen poll published Friday.
Although it was a tight race, the national telephone and online survey conducted by Rasmussen Reports revealed that voters have a more favorable opinion of Trump (52 percent) than of Biden (51 percent). Not to mention, voters have a more unfavorable opinion of Biden (48 percent) than of Trump (46 percent).
Along party lines, Trump still dominates with 84 percent favorability among Republicans, 27 percent among Democrats, and 47 percent among unaffiliated voters. Biden similarly received 83 percent favorability among Democrats, 20 percent among Republicans, and 47 percent among unaffiliated voters.
However, former President Obama seems to be the most favorable with voters than both Biden and Trump. Obama received a 55 percent favorability rating from voters with only 26 percent indicating an unfavorable opinion of him.
The survey also showed that when comparing Biden to both Trump and Obama, Biden “suffers from more intense disapproval by Republicans, and doesn’t have the kind of strong support from black voters that benefitted Obama.”
“Sixty-five percent (65%) of Republicans have a ‘Very Unfavorable’ opinion of Biden, while just 47% of GOP voters now have a ‘Very Unfavorable’ opinion of Obama. And while 57% of black voters have ‘Very Favorable’ opinion of Obama, only 45% of black voters have a ‘Very Favorable’ of Biden. Perhaps more significantly, the percentage of black voters who have a ‘Very Unfavorable’ view of Biden (19%) is more than twice as large as the number of black voters whose opinion of Obama is ‘Very Unfavorable’ (9%).”
