Recent polls have revealed strong levels of support for the U.S. military amid the ongoing war with Iran. A Rasmussen survey found 81% of likely voters had a favorable view of the military, including 53% of respondents who ranked their opinion as “very favorable.” Support held strong across partisan lines with 91% of Republicans, 75% of Democrats, and 76% of voters not affiliated with either party responding with at least a somewhat favorable opinion of the U.S. military.
The U.S. and Israel began attacks against Iran on February 28 with the stated objectives of destroying Iran’s missile capabilities and naval infrastructure, and further ensuring the Iranian regime would be incapable of developing nuclear weapons.
Rasmussen also conducted a poll regarding voter perception about the effort, finding a significant number of likely voters who view the Iran war as successful so far. According to the survey, 61% view the military operation as successful, with 35% of respondents viewing the effort as “very successful.” Twenty-nine percent of respondents did not consider the war successful, with 12% ranking the effort as not successful at all.
The survey found a large number of respondents who were monitoring the news on the conflict with Iran, with 81% saying they were following news reports on the war in Iran closely and 49% who said they were following very closely. The rate at which respondents were following news reports impacted their views on the success of the war. Sixty-six percent of respondents who followed the news very closely viewed the mission as at least somewhat successful.
Views on the success of Operation Epic Fury correlated with overall levels of support for the military. Among voters who rank their impression of the U.S. military as “very favorable,” 84% viewed the military operation in Iran as at least somewhat successful.
Respondents who voted for Donald Trump in 2024 viewed the war in Iran as successful at a rate of 83%, while only 40% of respondents who voted for Kamala Harris considered the operation successful so far.
