This week, President Donald Trump made history during his visit to Japan, where he visited with the country’s newly sworn-in Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi – the first woman in Japan to hold such a role.
The president’s Tokyo visit was filled with warmth and reverence as he and Takaichi reflected on the life of the late former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Prime Minister Takaichi even gifted President Trump the late Abe’s golf putter, along with a golf bag signed by Hideki Matsuyama, a professional Japanese champion golfer.
Regarding the late Abe’s golf putter, President Trump remarked, “Such a wonderful man.”
President Trump and Abe were close allies during the president’s first term in office. Sadly, Abe was tragically assassinated in July 2022.
During President Trump’s trip to Japan this week, he held several ceremonial moments with the prime minister, including the signing of key commitments between the United States and Japan.
As reported by RSBN, Trump and Takaichi inked a “Golden Age” agreement for both countries, focused on strategic investments to promote economic security and economic growth.
President Trump also inked a framework with Japan, establishing a supply of critical minerals and rare earth elements by working together. According to the White House, this will be accomplished through economic policy to “accelerate development of diversified, liquid, and fair markets for critical minerals and rare earths…”
“I have always had a great love of Japan,” President Donald Trump told Takaichi. “…I will say that this will be a relationship that will be stronger than ever before, and I look forward to working with you.”
He publicly promised the Japanese leader that, “any time you have any question, any doubt, anything you want…we are an ally at the highest level.”
President Trump also congratulated Takaichi’s rise to the office of prime minister.
“I’d also like to congratulate you on being the first woman prime minister,” he said. “…We’re going to have a fantastic relationship. Thank you very much.”
On Tuesday, the prime minister formally nominated President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his ceaseless efforts to broker peace around the world.
I highly value your unwavering commitment towards peace and stability,” she told the president during his visit to Japan.
