President-elect Donald Trump posted on Truth Social his reaction to Justin Trudeau resigning as the Liberal Party leader and Canadian Prime Minister due to growing public dissatisfaction.

Several factors led to the pressure of Trudeau to resign with his approval rating rapidly declining over his mishandling of the inflation crisis, the soaring cost of living and his progressive liberal policies affecting the lives of Canadians daily.

The soon to be 47th administration’s proposed implementation of 25% tariffs on imported goods on all products entering the U.S. from Canada, Mexico and China upon President Trump’s first day in office is a strategic trade measure in order to protect American workers and American businesses.

According to the Bureau of Industry and Service, the top commodities imported from Canada to the U.S. includes oil, minerals, lime, and cement. The imposed tariffs will also address the efforts being made to mitigate the border crisis and illegal drug trafficking to the U.S.

With the U.S.’s economic interest in mind, the 47th president proposed in his post the benefits of Canada becoming the 51st state of the U.S. Trump stated as response to Trudeau’s resignation, “The United States can no longer suffer the massive Trade Deficits and Subsidies that Canada needs to stay afloat. Justin Trudeau knew this, and resigned.”

Trump added, “If Canada merged with the U.S., there would be no Tariffs, taxes would go way down, and they would would be TOTALLY SECURE from the threat of Russian and Chinese Ships that are constantly surrounding them.”
