President Donald J. Trump and his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, just two days after the president began his second term in the White House, foreshadowing a “golden age” of American success.

The couple were wed on January 22, 2005, in an opulent ceremony at the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach, Florida. The ceremony was followed by a reception at Trump’s luxurious Mar-a-Lago estate, filled to the brim with celebrities and politicians.

In her memoir, Melania, the First Lady described the wedding with sentimentality and pride. “Our exchange in the ornate church was deeply meaningful,” she wrote. “Donald sealed our union three times, with each kiss more tender than the last.”

She noted in her book that guests like Shaquille O’Neal, former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, editor-in-chief of Vogue Anna Wintour, journalist Barbara Walters, American Idol personality Simon Cowell and many more were in attendance.

“The atmosphere in the room was electric,” Melania wrote, “and I felt a sense of pride in the successful outcome of the wedding.”

Preceding the first lady’s book release in late 2024, she also published a video online discussing her love for her husband and their undeniable connection.

“From the moment Donald I met, there was an undeniable spark,” she stated. “There was something magnetic about him – his confidence, his charm, his humor, his vision. Our wedding was a beautiful affair – a breathtaking gown, a perfectly created menu by our celebrated chef, and captivating live performances by music legends.”

According to her book, Tony Bennet, Paul Anka, and Billy Joel performed at the reception.

Poignantly, she also wrote in her memoir that for their honeymoon, she and Trump chose to stay at home at Mar-a-Lago, despite their unlimited ability to travel anywhere in the world.

“While we had enjoyed many of the world’s most exotic destinations, we found true serenity in the comfort and splendor of our own backyard,” she explained.
