President Donald Trump is urging House Republicans to support an upcoming budget bill that could incorporate elements of the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act.

In a Truth Social post on Tuesday, the president called on GOP representatives to pass the budget bill and thanked House Speaker Mike Johnson for his leadership in moving the legislation forward.

“Thank you to all of the House Republicans who are supporting the first step towards getting as much of THE SAVE AMERICA ACT, as possible, in the Budget Bill, and to our Great Speaker, Mike Johnson,” President Trump said. “I am asking all House Republicans to VOTE YES on this very important Budget Resolution.”

The legislation passed an initial vote in the House of Representatives on Tuesday by a vote of 214-211. The fate of the bill was uncertain after conservative holdouts expressed opposition to $95 billion in military funding.

Reps. Lauren Boebert, R- Colo., Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., and Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., pushed back against Speaker Johnson and threatened to withhold support due to a lack of offsets in the bill. The bill still faces hurdles on the way to ultimately being passed into law, as fiscally conservative opponents argue the additional funding should be tied to corresponding cuts in spending.

Trump focused on the importance of potential passage of key provisions of the SAVE Act in the bill, which could strengthen the security of U.S. elections if passed.

“I am watching the vote very closely, and hope Republicans can UNIFY to secure Elections against all forms of Foreign Country Interference, and Illegal Alien voting,” President Trump said.

Several House Republicans have echoed President Trump’s attitude towards the bill, including Rep. Keith Self, R-Texas, who described the provisions of the SAVE America Act as the most significant consideration at stake in considering the bill.

“The most important thing is the SAVE America Act. Full SAVE America,” Rep. Self said. “I’m willing to eat some spending in order to get the most important bill we will pass this year, the SAVE America Act, across the finish line.”
