President Trump is clarifying his vision for the terms of a peace deal with Iran. On Thursday, the president took to Truth Social to set the record straight on what the U.S. will expect moving forward. He celebrated the positive market reaction to the announcement of a deal and emphasized that the forthcoming peace should incorporate other regional conflicts.
“The United States is committed to PEACE, and we encourage everyone in the Middle East Region to maintain their commitment to allowing our negotiations to beautifully unfold,” President Trump said. “The Markets are loving what is happening with Oil Prices way down, and Stocks way up. We expect a complete Ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon, Hezbollah, and Israel.”
President Trump’s statement aligned with comments made by Vice President J.D. Vance on Thursday. Speaking at a press briefing, Vance emphasized the U.S. expectation that Israel would adhere to the spirit of the peace deal and cease offensive attacks in Lebanon. Vance bolstered his statements by pointing out that President Trump had strongly supported Israel, and that the U.S. had been the primary supplier of Israel’s defensive weapons.
The president also pushed back against the proposition that the U.S. would pay Iran $300 billion as a condition of the deal. Although reports of a payment were circulated following the news of an agreement with Iran, Trump denied their accuracy.
“There is no 300 Billion Dollar payment to Iran by the U.S. That’s Fake News!” President Trump said. “All there is for the U.S. is Success, Lower Oil Prices, and Victory. Check out the Stock Market. Dumocrat propaganda at play!!!”
Vice President Vance provided similar clarification on Thursday regarding potential reconstruction payments to Iran. Speaking to The New York Times, Vance stated any funds for Iran’s reconstruction would be sourced through investment from other nations in the region and would not be funded by U.S. taxpayers. Vance also added that the reconstruction payments would be conditioned upon Iran’s conduct moving forward.
