President Donald Trump used a fast-food delivery at the White House on Monday to promote his administration’s “no tax on tips” policy, turning the moment into a Tax Day message about worker earnings.

The president welcomed DoorDash driver Sharon Simmons, an Arkansas grandmother, who delivered two bags of McDonald’s to the White House. During a brief exchange with reporters, the president emphasized recent tax changes affecting tipped income.

When asked whether the White House tips well, President Trump paused, then pulled cash from his pocket and handed what appeared to be a $100 bill to Simmons.

“You reminded me,” he said.

Simmons responded that the White House has “very” good tippers.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt posted a video of the conversation and delivery.

“President Trump just received a McDonald’s delivery order from a DoorDash driver outside the Oval Office!” Leavitt wrote. “Thanks to President Trump signing No Tax on Tips into law, Sharron is using the $11,000 in tips that she made last year to support her family.”

The appearance coincided with the administration’s push to highlight provisions in the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which includes a temporary tax break allowing tipped workers to deduct up to $25,000 in income from 2025 through 2028.

President Trump referenced the policy while speaking with Simmons, noting reported increases in take-home pay for some workers under the measure.

DoorDash officials have promoted the policy as beneficial to gig economy workers. The company said in a statement that drivers have collectively saved significant amounts under the provision.

Simmons, who has completed more than 14,000 deliveries since 2022, was featured in the event highlighting the policy’s impact on workers who rely on tips as their primary source of income.
