President Donald Trump on Friday officially unveiled “the world’s most luxurious plane” at Joint Base Andrews, celebrating a brand-new Air Force One, decked out in red, white, and blue.
“The biggest difference is the difference in size – it’s virtually double the size,” President Trump said of the hulking and newly modified Boeing 747.
As reported by RSBN, the White House bade farewell this week to the previous Air Force One, which was used since 1990.
The U.S. Air Force highlighted the arrival of the new aircraft at JBA, noting that it would commence its initial commissioning flights.
“The safety and security of the commander in chief is our highest priority,” said Secretary of the Air Force Troy Meink in a statement.
He continued, “From the beginning, we meticulously evaluated every requirement to accelerate delivery while maintaining the high standards expected of the presidential mission. This effort proves that the U.S. Air Force can move fast without sacrificing quality, security, or reliability.”
President Trump, during his remarks on Friday, invited the media to take a “quick tour” of the new aircraft, noting that the press would soon be spending “a lot of time” on the plane anyway, amid upcoming diplomatic trips to places like Turkey and, perhaps, a return trip to China.
The president also announced that the new Air Force One will lead a very special and once-in-a-lifetime flyover of Washington, D.C., on July 4, 2026 – the nation’s anticipated 250th birthday celebration.
“This will be a flyover on July 4th, I think I can say, the likes of which we’ve never seen before,” President Trump said. “…[We’re] spending a couple of bucks extra for a little fuel. We own the planes so all we need’s a little extra fuel!”
The new Air Force One was gifted to the United States by the Qatari government and is the first of a series of three aircraft to be used in this capacity, per RSBN.
