President Trump arrived Tuesday morning in the great state of Florida, where he was greeted by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem before departing on a tour of “Alligator Alcatraz,” a new ICE detention facility in Ochopee.
The facility has become a sensation in the media for being surrounded, supposedly, by alligators in the unforgiving Florida Everglades terrain.
After deplaning Air Force One, Trump joined Gov. DeSantis and Secretary Noem to give remarks to the media before heading to the detention center.
Trump joked that there were a “lot of cops in the form of alligators” surrounding the holding center. “I wouldn’t want to run through the Everglades for long,” he remarked.
Gov. DeSantis offered words of high praise to Trump, noting how quickly the presidential administration had worked to close and secure the border, but pointing out that Joe Biden had allowed millions of illegal entrants to cross into the U.S.
“We’re going to have 2,000 more at Camp Blanding, which is our National Guard site,” DeSantis said, noting this location could be a new site for another immigration detention center.
“What I would just say is, don’t let Florida be the only state – we’ve got very red states that should be doing this,” he added, discussing the importance of enforcing federal immigration law.
President Trump said the “worst of the worst” illegal offenders would be prioritized for deportation. “Nobody can ever forget…what [Biden] did to this country,” he said.
One reporter ended the question-and-answer session by asking about the legislative homestretch on the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which would codify further funding for border security in America.
“I think it’s going to be the greatest bill ever passed,” Trump remarked. “…We need to build more wall.”
He noted that critical border measures were all covered in the OBBB, dismissing Democrat criticisms as simply “wrong.”
