President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that Dan Bongino will serve as the new deputy director of the FBI.

Trump shared the news in a post to his Truth Social account, including details about Bongino’s background.

“Great news for Law Enforcement and American Justice! Dan Bongino, a man of incredible love and passion for our Country, has just been named the next DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF THE FBI, by the man who will be the best ever Director, Kash Patel,” Trump began.

“Dan has a Masters Degree in Psychology from C.U.N.Y., and an MBA from Penn State. He was a member of the New York Police Department (New York’s Finest!), a highly respected Special Agent with the United States Secret Service, and is now one of the most successful Podcasters in the Country, something he is willing and prepared to give up in order to serve,” the president noted.

“Working with our great new United States Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and Director Patel, Fairness, Justice, Law and Order will be brought back to America, and quickly. Congratulations Dan!” he added.

Trump later mentioned Bongino’s family in a second post on Sunday.

“Another aspect of the life of Dan Bongino that I think is very important. He has a great wife, Paula, and two wonderful daughters who truly love their dad. What an incredible job Dan will do!!!” he wrote.

Bongino posted a brief response to the president’s announcement late Sunday.

“Thank you Mr. President, Attorney General Bondi, and Director Patel,” he stated.

Bongino, who leads the popular podcast “The Bongino Report,” has long supported Trump, especially on issues related to the border and strong law enforcement. He was also outspoken in criticisms of the Secret Service following the assassination attempt against the president in Butler, Pennsylvania, last summer.

It is unclear what changes, if any, will occur concerning Bongino’s podcast. The show has become one of the most popular in the nation, despite a ban on YouTube and previously departing a role as a host for Fox News.

Bongino is also the author of multiple books, including Life Inside the Bubble: Why a Top-Ranked Secret Service Agent Walked Away from It All (2013) and The Fight: A Secret Service Agent’s Inside Account of Security Failings and the Political Machine (2016).
