President Donald Trump on Monday congratulated organizers of the FIFA World Cup, praising what he called the success of the monthlong tournament and recognizing law enforcement officials, White House staff and FIFA leadership.
In a post on Truth Social, the president thanked those who helped stage the event, singling out law enforcement officers for their role in providing security.
“I want to thank all of those involved but, in particular, our great law enforcement,” he wrote. “The respect that everyone has for them, together with their love of our country, kept this great championship the safest and most spectacular World Cup in history, by far!”
President Trump also praised Andrew Giuliani, who served in the administration’s World Cup efforts, and FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
He thanked “young and dynamic Andrew Giuliani, working for the government of the United States of America, and the fantastic President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, on a job well done!”
The president concluded by commending Infantino’s leadership of the international soccer organization.
“Few people will ever be able to accomplish what he has done in elevating the World Cup to a level that nobody thought was possible. Congratulations to all!” Trump wrote.
The White House also released a statement with a video thanking all who attended the World Cup.
“Nobody does it quite like @POTUS & America. To everyone who traveled from around the world to join, thanks for experiencing the hype firsthand. Now you know what makes America one of a kind. Huge thank you to law enforcement & everyone who made it possible. What an unforgettable way to close out @FIFAWorldCup 2026,” the White House posted to X.
The FIFA World Cup opened June 11 and concluded Sunday with Spain defeating Argentina 1-0 in the championship match.
