President Donald Trump delivered a prerecorded video message Sunday to attendees gathered for the “Rededicate 250” event, reading a biblical passage focused on humility, repentance and prayer.

The passage, taken from 2 Chronicles 7:11-18, centered on a call for believers to seek God and turn from sin.

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land,” the president read.

The message was part of a daylong gathering in Washington commemorating America’s 250th anniversary through prayer, worship and patriotic celebrations focused on faith and national unity.

The verses President Trump read describe God appearing to King Solomon and promising blessings for obedience while warning of judgment for turning away from God’s commands.

“For now I have chosen and sanctified this house that my name may be there forever and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually,” he read from the passage.

“And as for you, if you will walk before me as David, your father, walked and do according to all that I have commanded you. And shall observe my statutes and my judgments.”

The passage also included a warning against abandoning God’s laws and worshipping other gods.

“But if you turn away and forsake my statutes and my commandments. Which I have set before you,” the president continued. “And shall go and serve other gods and worship them. Then will I pluck them up from the roots out of my land which I have given them.”

The “Rededicate 250” event featured Christian worship music, prayers and speeches from political and religious leaders.

Participants included Vice President JD Vance, War Department Secretary Pete Hegseth and House Speaker Mike Johnson, who appeared either in person or through video messages.
