President Donald Trump revealed on Friday that he recently signed six pardons related to individuals prosecuted under the prior Biden administration.
“It is my Great Honor to have just signed Pardons for six people who were persecuted by the Biden Administration, and were in, or being sent to, prison, for ‘fixing their car,’” President Trump declared in a social media statement.
He continued, “While I know this sounds ridiculous, it is nevertheless a fact, and part of the Weaponization and Stupidity that our Country had to endure during four long years of Sleepy Joe Biden. I AM SETTING THEM ALL FREE, RIGHT NOW!”
This comes just days after President Trump signed a memorandum for the Environmental Protection Agency concerning the repair of vehicles with aftermarket parts, relating to the Clean Air Act’s prohibition on “tampering with emissions controls.”
“To further ensure vehicle affordability, it is the policy of my Administration that consumers should be able to fix their vehicles with affordable parts without being deemed to have circumvented emissions controls,” the memorandum stated.
The White House had not yet published a list of the six individuals whom the president pardoned at the time of this article’s publication.
The six pardons issued on Friday seem to be on par with his previous actions regarding what he appears to view as obvious environmental regulatory overreach.
According to CBS, last year, President Trump pardoned a Wyoming mechanic named Troy Lake after he was convicted for violating federal emissions laws. The Trump Department of Justice just this year also ordered prosecutors to halt pending prosecutions linked to these aftermarket devices, the outlet noted.
President Trump has issued a slate of pardons since retaking office in January 2025, all of which are available to review on the Department of Justice’s website.
