President Trump had harsh words for Tesla CEO Elon Musk following news that Twitter was suing Musk for threatening to renege on his offer to buy the social media giant.

The 45th president wrote on Truth Social:

“When Elon Musk came to the White House asking me for help on all of his many subsidized projects, whether it’s electric cars that don’t drive long enough, driverless cars that crash, or rocketships to nowhere, without which subsidies he’d be worthless, and telling me how he was a big Trump fan and Republican, I could have said, ‘drop to your knees and beg,’ and he would have done it…”

“Now Elon should focus on getting himself out of the Twitter mess because he could owe $44 billion for something that’s perhaps worthless.” Trump added, “Also, lots of competition for electric cars!”

“Why was Elon allowed to break the $15 million stock purchase barrier on Twitter without any reporting?” he asked. “That’s a very serious breach!”

Trump’s statements come after a growing feud between the two billionaires. The 45th president called Musk a “bullshit artist” during his rally last weekend after hearing that Musk may have been dishonest about who his first-ever Republican vote was for.

Last week, Twitter revealed it would sue Musk to force him to honor the terms of the original deal.

For his part, Musk has claimed that Twitter breached provisions of the deal by failing to provide accurate data on the number of potential fake or spam accounts that exist on the platform. Musk has claimed that by failing to provide him with this information, Twitter is in “material breach of multiple provisions of the agreement.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, Twitter strongly contests Musk’s claims and has fired back by claiming that they have “bent over backward” to provide Mr. Musk with the information he has requested.

The lawsuit is the latest in the feud between the two parties that began in April when Musk first broached the idea of starting his own social media platform to challenge Twitter. Musk took issue with the company’s “failure to adhere to free speech principles” and eventually offered to buy the company outright for $44 billion.

Musk also claimed that Twitter’s failure to adhere to free speech served to “undermine democracy.”

Whether Musk will follow through with his promise to buy Twitter is still to be determined.
