President Donald Trump suggested in recent comments this week that “BIG cheating” may be unfolding in California’s elections, as vote-counting continues to slog forward amid a heated open primary battle for California governor and the high-profile Los Angeles mayorship.

“There’s BIG cheating by the Dumocrats in California,” President Trump alleged on Truth Social.

He added, “Votes are all tied up. May not be in for weeks. Under investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles. Why the vote counting DELAY???”

In the California open primary, Republican and Trump-endorsed gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton is holding a narrow lead over Democrat and former HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra.

According to The New York Times, as of Thursday – two days after the primary election – just 56 percent of the votes had been tallied.

In Los Angeles, where breakout candidate Spencer Pratt seemed poised to advance to a runoff election against incumbent LA Mayor Karen Bass, only 62 percent of the votes had rolled in by Thursday, per the NYT.

“The Dumocrats are at it again!” President Trump claimed in a separate Truth Social comment.

He added, “They are trying to STEAL THE GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA PRIMARY, AND THE MAYOR OF LOS ANGELES, PRIMARY, AWAY FROM TWO GREAT REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES. Here we go with the very late and massive numbers of MAIL IN BALLOTS[.]”

In California, voter ID has been prohibited (SB 1174), and mail-in ballots are universally disbursed (AB 37) to all voters.

Podcast host Katie Miller, who is the wife of Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller, alleged on X in light of California’s protracted vote-counting, “The Democrats are about to steal the LA mayoral race once again using mail-in voting.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) called the prolonged vote-counting process “Absurd!”

Tom Fitton, the president of watchdog group Judicial Watch, alleged on X, “If they can’t tell you who won on Election Day, it is fair to assume the election is compromised.”

Political PAC “America,” founded by SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, posited on X, “24 hours after polls closed, only 58% of the vote in California has been counted. Americans deserve secure elections that they know the results of on Election Night.”
