President Donald Trump has suggested that talks between the United States and Iran could be renewed in Islamabad this week, with just days remaining on the ceasefire agreement.

The president told The Post on Tuesday, on the subject of another round of possible Islamabad negotiations, “You should stay there, really, because something could be happening over the next two days, and we’re more inclined to go there. It’s more likely, you know why? Because the field marshal is doing a great job.”

According to the outlet, the president’s comment referred to Pakistan Field Marshal Asim Munir. Pakistan, for its part, has been assisting in brokering a ceasefire with Iran and, possibly, a permanent end to the conflict.

Over the weekend, peace talks in Islamabad, led by Vice President J.D. Vance, failed to produce an agreement to end the war.

This sparked the president’s decision to blockade the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping corridor in the Middle East, to stop Iran from sending and receiving vessels while the rest of the world is choked off.

The continual closure of the Strait has driven oil prices higher and higher. As reported by RSBN, empty oil tankers – at least 121 vessels – are also headed to the U.S. right now in record numbers to fill up in the Gulf Coast.

The president has remained clear that the Strait of Hormuz must be reopened, but accomplishing this has proven quite a feat. The closure has also put considerable pressure on Europe as its energy supply, squeezed by the Strait of Hormuz, has suffered.

“Europe is desperate for Energy, and yet the United Kingdom refuses to open North Sea Oil, one of the greatest fields in the World. Tragic!!!” wrote President Trump on Truth Social.

He added, “Aberdeen should be booming. Norway sells its North Sea Oil to the U.K. at double the price. They are making a fortune. U.K., which is better situated on the North Sea for purposes of energy than Norway, should, DRILL, BABY, DRILL!!! It is absolutely crazy that they don’t.”

According to TIME, a potential second meeting between the Iranians and the United States could lead to an extension of the ceasefire agreement. “Future talks are under discussion but nothing has been scheduled at this time,” a White House official told the outlet.
