With the one year anniversary of President Donald Trump’s Jan. 20, 2025 inauguration drawing near, new polling reveals how positively the majority of Americans feel about his presidency.

In fact, President Trump is more popular than every other 21st century commander-in-chief—Presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Joe Biden—at this time in their presidency.

Over 44 percent of Americans approve of the president’s second term as of Jan. 11, 2026—a five point increase from this same moment of his first term according to polling averages.

The president’s approval was also two-points higher than Obama’s, whose favorability hit 42 percent at this same period from his second term.

Bush’s favorability ratings in Jan. 2006 fared similar to Obama’s from 2014, edging close to an approval of 43 percent.

Biden’s Jan. 11, 2022 approval similarly averaged at 42.5 percent, though he only served a single term in office.

While President Trump is constitutionally unable to serve a third term in office, his high approvals could be indicative of a successful 2026 midterm cycle for Republicans.

Even more substantial, Vice President JD Vance has been widely speculated as President Trump’s successor. If the president continues to maintain and increase his approval ratings, a Vance victory becomes increasingly more likely for 2028.
