President Donald Trump is promoting a significant collaboration between the U.S. and Armenia. The strategically important alliance is critical, given Armenia’s past affiliation with Russia. In a Truth Social post on Wednesday, the president praised Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and touted his vision for his country and for future cooperation with the United States.

“Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, of Armenia, a great friend and Leader, is making his Country strong, wealthy, and very secure!” President Trump said. “Nikol completely shares my vision of PEACE and PROSPERITY for Armenia and the entire South Caucasus region.”

The president announced that Secretary of State Marco Rubio had been engaging in negotiations to strengthen ties between Armenia and the U.S., including the future development of crucial energy infrastructure.

Armenia has historically been allied with Russia, but relations between the two countries have cooled in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2024. The Trump administration has played a crucial role in brokering a peace between Armenia and the neighboring country of Azerbaijan, after the two nations had been embroiled in long-term regional conflict. President Trump hosted leaders from both countries at the White House last year to solidify a peace deal.

“State, Marco Rubio, just traveled to Armenia, where he advanced several important Deals for both our Countries.” President Trump said. “Soon, the United States and Armenia will break ground together on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity, which will transform the South Caucasus, and help our wonderful American Energy Companies gain access from Central Asia all the way to the United States.”

He noted Prime Minister Pashinyan’s upcoming election and offered a robust endorsement and acknowledged his willingness to adopt a more pro-Western foreign policy stance. In the parliamentary vote set for June 7, Pashinyan’s Civil Contract Party will face off against opposition groups, which include more pro-Russian influence.

“For these reasons, Nikol has my COMPLETE and TOTAL Endorsement for Re-Election on June 7, 2026,” President Trump said. “With Nikol’s help, we will bring the United States, Armenia, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia to greater heights than ever before. Make (Armenia) Great Again — MAGA!”
