The Trump administration has announced a new CBP app to be used for self-deportation by those who have entered the country illegally.

Under the Biden administration, the CBP One app allowed individuals crossing the border to be released inside the country on parole. The Trump administration has halted this feature and renamed the app the CBP Home app. The app’s new purpose will be to report self-deportation which Trump has described as the “safest option” for both migrants and law enforcement.

President Trump has also called on those who are here illegally to use this feature in order to preserve eligibility to enter the country legally at a future date. In a statement announcing the app’s new functionality, Trump emphasized self-deportation as the preferable method and encouraged people to use the app to leave the country willingly.

“People in our country can self-deport the easy way, or they can get deported the hard way and that’s not pleasant,” Trump said.

Trump pointed out the Biden administration’s use of the app in allowing a record number of illegal border crossings during his term.

“The Biden administration exploited the CBP One app to allow more than one million aliens to illegally enter the United States,” Trump said. “Now my administration is launching the CBP Home app to give people in our country illegally an easy way to leave now and self-deport voluntarily.”

Trump stressed that voluntary self-deportation would be the only way to allow for potential legal reentry into the country.

“If they do, they could potentially have the opportunity to return legally at some point in the future, but if they do not avail themselves of this opportunity then they will be found, they will be deported and they will never be admitted again to the United States ever again,” Trump said.

The Trump administration has already produced stunning results on curbing illegal immigration. Illegal border crossings have dropped dramatically since Trump took office with the most recent data showing the lowest levels in decades for the month of February.
