President Trump vowed to be the “defender” of Jews if elected to a second term in the White House.
The 45th president shared the promise during his remarks at a “Fighting Antisemitism in America” event in Washington, D.C., on Thursday.
“No longer will you be threatened on your college campuses. No longer will you be discriminated against in college admissions, and no longer will your own government, import jihadists from places that we don’t even want to talk about, and they want you haters,” Trump said.
“My promise to Jewish Americans is this, with your vote, I will be your defender, your protector, and I will be the best friend Jewish Americans have ever had in the White House,” he continued.
In his comments on fighting antisemitism in schools, Trump offered strong words on his actions toward campuses supporting anti-Israel activities.
“Here’s what I will do,” he said. “The first week back in the Oval Office, I will inform every college president that if you don’t end antisemitic propaganda, you will lose your accreditation and federal support.”
Trump also spoke at the Israeli-American Council conference in Washington. The event remembered the hostages held in Gaza following the attacks of Oct. 7 in Israel.
In an impromptu moment, Trump invited the father of one hostage who was killed to the stage to much applause.
His remarks also focused on removing foreign supporters of Hamas and jihad.
“We will deport the foreign Jihad sympathizers and Hamas supporters,” Trump told the audience. “If you hate America, if you want to eliminate Israel, we will throw you out of our country so rapidly.”
He later added, “With your vote, we will reject antisemitism in our schools, reject it in our foreign policy. We will reject it in our immigration system.
Trump said, “But all of that starts with rejecting Kamala Harris at the ballot box this election.”
Trump’s past pro-Israel actions stood out during his first term. He announced support for Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, moving America’s embassy to the city. Trump also supported Israeli sovereignty of the Golan Heights.
Other notable pro-Israel achievements included an executive order against antisemitism on college campuses and the signing of the Abraham Accords, the first peace agreement between Israel and its neighbors in over two decades.
