President Donald Trump announced that he was rescinding his endorsement of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., amid her latest criticisms of his administration.
In a post to Truth Social, President Trump accused her of “complaining” instead of celebrating what he listed as “record achievements” under his administration.
Since taking office in 2021, Greene has been one of the president’s most faithful allies, campaigning with him and railing against the Biden administration’s lawfare efforts.
Nonetheless, the split began after the president told her not to pursue statewide office in Georgia, according to the post on Truth Social, believing Greene was unable to win.
“It seemed to all begin when I sent her a Poll stating that she should not run for Senator, or Governor, she was at 12 percent and didn’t have a chance (unless, of course, she had my Endorsement — which she wasn’t about to get!),” President Trump wrote on Friday.
The president further criticized his long-time ally for supposedly telling “many people that she is upset that I don’t return her phone calls anymore,” but that his having 219 House Republicans, 53 GOP senators, 24 members of his cabinet, 200 countries, and a normal life to lead, meant he could not “take a ranting Lunatic’s call every day.”
Nicknaming her “Wacky Marjorie,” President Trump added that the congresswoman went “Far Left” amid her appearance on ABC’s “The View.”
The president then promised “Complete and Unyielding Support” to any conservative primary challenger running against her in the 2026 midterm elections.
In a follow-up post on Saturday, he added that “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Greene” was a disgrace to the Republican Party.
He also nicknamed her “Lightweight Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Brown,” because “Green grass turns brown when it begins to ROT.”
He added that Greene “betrayed the entire Republican Party when she turned Left,” again referencing her performance on The View, while later comparing her to politicians like Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky.
The president’s post follows comments he made previously aboard Air Force One, telling reporters while en route to Mar-a-Lago that he was already considering endorsing a primary opponent against the congresswoman, The Hill reported.
“Something happened to her over the last period of a month or two where she changed, I think, politically,” the president told reporters aboard the plane. “I think that her constituents aren’t going to be happy. Already I have people calling me, they want to challenge her to a race in her district in Georgia.”
Shortly thereafter, President Trump withdrew his support of Greene via a post to Truth Social.
Greene immediately responded to the president’s comments, writing in a post to X that he had “just attacked [her] and lied about [her].”
“I haven’t called him at all, but I did send these text messages today,” Greene wrote with screenshots of text messages.
“Apparently this is what sent him over the edge. The Epstein files. And of course he’s coming after me hard to make an example to scare all the other Republicans before next week’s vote to release the Epstein files,” she added.
“It’s astonishing really how hard he’s fighting to stop the Epstein files from coming out that he actually goes to this level.”
Greene reiterated her previous support of him throughout the years, but ultimately wrote how she does not “worship or serve Donald Trump,” but God and Jesus, and that she serves her district, Georgia-14 and the American people.
While staunchly supporting the president’s 2024 presidential bid, Greene has been opposite the president on several key issues since his second term began.
She previously opposed the president’s strike against Iran, called Israel’s actions in Gaza a “genocide,” was one of four Republicans to sign the Jeffrey Epstein discharge petition, and criticized Republicans’ messaging during the government shutdown, The Hill reported.
