House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., is scheduled to meet with President Trump on Friday, according to a Trump campaign official.

The news of the upcoming meeting comes just one day after Johnson told his Republican colleagues that he spoke with the 45th president on the telephone.

According to the Associated Press, a source who was familiar with the details of the scheduled meeting said there would be a “joint announcement” on Friday, but no other information was provided. The outlet reported that another source said the pair would be holding “a press conference on election integrity.”

Speaker Johnson found himself in several tough situations in recent weeks as he worked to avoid a government shutdown while trying to satisfy demands from certain House Republicans.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., recently threatened to bring a motion to oust Johnson, but has not stipulated what would prompt her to act.

She met with Johnson on Tuesday, telling reporters afterward that he offered her an advisory position on his “kitchen cabinet.” Greene did not turn down Johnson’s offer but said that she was awaiting more details.

Johnson endorsed President Trump back in November, praising his “phenomenal first term” at the time of his announcement. He was also one of the House Republicans who questioned the outcome of the 2020 presidential election and filed a legal brief in a lawsuit brought to the Supreme Court by 19 Republican state attorneys general.

Both Johnson and Greene are well-liked by President Trump, who often urges Republicans to present a more unified front in Congress.

Since becoming the presumptive Republican nominee for president, Trump and the Republican National Committee (RNC) have pushed for unity within the GOP.

RSBN will report the details of the meeting on Friday as soon as they are available.
