President Donald Trump’s empowered Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency continues to implement law and order nationwide amid nationwide deportation efforts, hitting an all-time high number of detainees.

According to internal documents reviewed by CBS, ICE custody detainees have reached 66,000 – the highest number of detainees in the agency’s history.

In July, Border Czar Tom Homan said there were roughly 59,000 people in custody, so this represents a sizeable increase in arrests in the weeks since.

According to TRAC’s immigration report, Texas is currently the state with the most ICE detainees in the 2025 fiscal year. Additionally, the Trump administration seems to have plans to expand ICE detention facilities nationwide, as revealed in an FOIA obtained by the ACLU.

This news on record-high levels of detainees comes amid other border security wins for the Trump administration. As reported by RSBN, the Department of Homeland Security recently announced an all-time low level of border crossings ever recorded in October 2025.

Per Customs and Border Protection data, zero illegal migrants were released into the interior of the country (a six-month consecutive trend under Trump so far), and just 30,561 total encounters in October, an all-time low for this month.

During a recent roundtable discussion at the White House, President Trump said there have been over 120,000 arrests of criminals by the administration’s law enforcement agencies since January.

DHS Secretary Noem also said during that roundtable that fentanyl trafficking into the United States has been reduced by 50 percent due to border security crackdowns – another big win for the administration.

According to CBS, the previous record-high for ICE detainees was in 2019, during the first Trump administration, with roughly 56,000 detainees. Per the outlet, ICE currently has enough beds to detain up to 70,000 people at a time, with more beds expected to open up amid increased federal funding for the agency.
