President Trump has the support of Greece’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis as he works tirelessly to secure a deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran and bring stability to the region.
Mitsotakis sat down for an interview with Breitbart during the Delphi Economic Forum and expressed hope that President Trump would secure a deal with Iran to end the war. He told Breitbart News, “Let’s hope that we will also have some sort of agreement regarding the situation in the Middle East because of course we’re all quite concerned about the economic fallout.”
Talks between the two countries continue, with President Trump this week extending the ceasefire indefinitely. Axios reported what President Trump wrote on Truth Social about the extension, “Based on the fact that the Government of Iran is seriously fractured … we have been asked to hold our Attack on the Country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal.”
One of the major sticking points in the negotiations is Iran’s nuclear weapons programs and the hundreds of pounds of highly enriched uranium. While Mitsotakis would like to see an end to the war, he agrees with President Trump that Iran should not have nuclear weapons.
He told Breitbart News, “Of course, we, from the very beginning, said that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, and as a country in the region we’re always very concerned with the destabilizing effect that Iran had but I think we’ve reached a point where we need to be quite concerned about the economic fallout of this situation.”
Mitsotakis believes that the peace deal will eventually bring the U.S. and Europe closer together. He also mentioned his country’s support for President Trump and shared that he will receive a very warm welcome when he visits Greece. Mitsotakis said, “Well, you certainly going to expect that he’s going to have a good time.” He added, “That I can guarantee. But I’ve worked with President Trump. I’m one of the few European leaders who knew him during Trump one. So you know that Greeks very much take pride in our hospitality.”
