Pakistan backs President Trump’s ceasefire push, urges Iran to negotiate

President Trump’s efforts to secure a peace deal with Iran to end the war have been praised by Pakistan’s interior minister, Mohsin Naqvi.

Breitbart reported that Naqvi held a meeting on Thursday with American Ambassador Natalie Baker to discuss ongoing negotiations and to put pressure on Tehran. According to sources, Naqvi commended President Trump’s extended ceasefire, saying, “The extension of the ceasefire by President Donald Trump is a welcome development; this step is significant progress towards reducing tensions.”

President Trump announced the extension of the ceasefire on Tuesday with a post on Truth Social. He wrote, “Based on the fact that the Government of Iran is seriously fractured, not unexpectedly so and, upon the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, of Pakistan, we have been asked to hold our Attack on the Country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal.”

He also added, “I have therefore directed our Military to continue the Blockade and, in all other respects, remain ready and able, and will therefore extend the Ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted, and discussions are concluded, one way or the other.”

In addition to the extended ceasefire, RSBN reports that sources within Islamabad, Pakistan, who have acted as the primary mediator between the two countries, believe that peace negotiations between Iran and the U.S. could resume soon.

Naqvi also urges Iran’s leaders to resume the negotiations, saying, “We also hope for positive progress from Iran’s side.” Other countries, like China, have also added pressure that Iran needs to participate in the peace talks.

The first round of talks was held earlier this month in Islamabad, with no agreement reached, but sources reveal that the timeline has been expedited since President Trump’s announcement of the extension of the ceasefire. In the meantime, President Trump has the support not only of Pakistan but also of Greece. Breitbart reported that during an interview with the news outlet, Mitsotaki said he supported President Trump’s push to secure a peace deal to bring stability to the area.
