President Donald Trump could soon appear on a redesigned U.S. passport as part of preparations for the nation’s 250th anniversary, according to reports describing a broader update to official government materials.

The redesign effort, led by the U.S. Department of State, is said to include a possible portrait of Trump from his second inauguration, though no final decision has been publicly confirmed.

The proposed update is tied to the semiquincentennial celebration of American independence and is intended to reflect patriotic themes. A mock-up circulating online appears to show Trump’s image placed in front of the Declaration of Independence.

If implemented, the passport would be one of several official or commemorative items featuring the president’s likeness.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury is preparing a $1 gold coin bearing his image, while the Commission of Fine Arts has approved a separate commemorative gold coin design.

President Trump has also been featured on the annual national parks pass issued by the National Park Service, alongside George Washington. Officials have said the passes are invalid if altered, including attempts to remove or obscure the printed imagery.

Additional items highlighting the president include a high-value “Gold Card” design and his name or signature on select government-related materials.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury has also indicated that President Trump’s signature could appear on paper currency, a move that would make him the first sitting president to do so.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, we are on a path toward unprecedented economic growth, lasting dollar dominance, and fiscal strength and stability,” said Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent.

“There is no more powerful way to recognize the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald J. Trump than U.S dollar bills bearing his name, and it is only appropriate that this historic currency be issued at the Semiquincentennial,” he added in March.

Officials have not announced a timeline for when the redesigned passport might be finalized or issued.
