Psaki: Illegal immigrants do not need vaccine proof because they are ‘not intending to stay here’

The Biden administration confirmed on Monday that illegal immigrants crossing the border into the country are not required to show proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test results – unlike foreign nationals who fly into the country.

When asked by Fox News reporter Peter Doocy about the double standard, the White House Press Secretary defended the decision, stating that illegal immigrants are “not intending to stay here for a lengthy period of time,” therefore, “it’s not the same thing.”

Earlier this month, Doocy pushed Psaki for answers as to why the administration announced the requirement of all private employees to be vaccinated but refused to mandate the vaccine for illegal immigrants crossing the border and being released into the country, according to Breitbart.

“But it’s a requirement for people at a business with more than a hundred people, and it’s not a requirement for migrants at the southern border,” Doocy said. “Why?”

“That’s correct,” Psaki replied, avoiding the question and moving on to the next reporter.

This comes after reports revealed last month that roughly 40 percent of illegal immigrants released in one Texas city tested positive for Covid-19. Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order restricting the transportation of illegal immigrants in Texas due to Covid-19, but a federal judge blocked the order.

The border situation is on track to becoming the worst immigration crisis in U.S. history as the Biden administration continues to delay taking real action. The number of illegal immigrants encountered by U.S. border patrol officers continues to soar, reaching over 200,000 in the month of July alone.
