Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy stood apart from the crowd of GOP candidates on the first debate stage of the 2024 election season on Wednesday night as he took a stand defending President Donald Trump.
Fox News hosts Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier asked the candidates who would support President Trump as the 2024 nominee if he were the winner of the primary next year even if the president was convicted on any of the charges that he is currently facing in multiple cases.
Ramaswamy raised his hand above a crowd of weak-kneed Republican candidates to indicate his support.
Ramaswamy also sparred with former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who unashamedly slammed Trump as someone who had engaged in “conduct that is beneath the office of the president of the United States.”
Ramaswamy replied, “President Trump, I believe, was the best president of the 21st century. And Chris Christie, honest to God, your claim that Donald Trump is motivated by vengeance and grievance, would be a lot more credible, if your ENTIRE campaign, were not based on vengeance and grievance against ONE MAN. And if people want to see a bunch of people blindly bashing Donald Trump without an iota of vision for this country, they can just change the channel to MSNBC.”
While Christie lobbed insults at Ramaswamy, accusing the businessman of never doing “anything” to help the country, the popular young candidate simply smiled.
Ramaswamy also stated that the weaponization of justice that has been aimed at President Trump was “wrong” and that it “must end.”
