Speculation over who President Donald Trump will pick to be his running mate in the 2024 presidential election has continued, but Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., has emerged as a contender.

According to NBC News, President Trump has been considering Stefanik more closely since December.

During a candlelight dinner with Mar-a-Lago members, she came up in a conversation about who would make a good vice presidential pick. He nodded and noted, “She’s a killer.”

In addition, NBC News noted that Steve Bannon, Trump’s chief strategist in the White House and the architect of his 2016 campaign strategy, stated, “Stefanik is at the top.”

“If you’re Trump, you want someone who’s loyal above all else,” he added.

When asked by NBC about the potential to be President Trump’s running mate, she said, “I’m not going to get into any of my conversations with President Trump.”

“I’m honored to call him a friend. I’m proud to be the first member of Congress to have endorsed his reelection, and he had a huge win in Iowa. So we’re very excited about that,” she went on.

On Wednesday, the congresswoman posted to X about joining him on the campaign trail.

“America will elect President Trump the next President to Save America,” she added.

During President Trump’s speech in New Hampshire Friday night, he praised Stefanik, noting, “Elise became very famous because she took on the heads of MIT and Penn and Harvard. And did it in a surgical way.”

He called it “beautiful,” and the crowd gave Stefanik a massive welcome, displaying her favorability.

Upon taking the stage, Stefanik declared, “I’m proud to be the first member of Congress to endorse President Trump for reelection!”
