Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., is fighting the good fight on behalf of President Donald Trump, filing ethics complaints against Manhattan Judge Arthur Engoron, who is presiding over the civil fraud trial that the 45th president is facing in New York.
The congresswoman announced that on the heels of her initial ethics complaint against Engoron, “a New York appellate court smacked down Judge Engoron for his blatantly unconstitutional gag order.”
Per RSBN, appellate Judge David Friedman stayed the gag order, pointing to his concerns about the First Amendment rights of President Trump when he left the courtroom.
Trump celebrated the suspension on Truth Social, calling the gag order “Ridiculous” and a “disgrace.”
After the gag order on Trump was suspended by an appellate judge, Rep. Stefanik wrote, “I am pleased to see that after my ethics complaint to the New York Commission on Judicial Conduct against Manhattan Judge Arthur Engoron, an appellate court has lifted the unconstitutional gag order against President Trump.”
She warned, “If Democrats can do this to a billionaire, former President, and leading presidential candidate, just imagine what they can do to the rest of us.”
On Friday, she announced, “Today, I’m supplementing my ethics complaint against Judge Engoron with examples of even more of his egregious misconduct after he just wrongly dismissed President Trump’s motion for a mistrial.”
In late November, Judge Engoron denied the president’s motion for a mistrial, saying that he stood by “each and every ruling, as they speak for themselves,” The Hill confirmed.
In the preliminary statement of Trump’s mistrial request, his lawyers argued, “The Constitution guarantees Defendants a fair and impartial trial. Here, in an unprecedented case commanding worldwide interest and attention, it is imperative that nothing compromise that guarantee and thereby undermine public confidence in our legal system.”
