Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., has vowed to introduce legislation in the House of Representatives that will effectively defund special counsel Jack Smith’s ceaseless investigation against President Donald Trump.

“I will be introducing legislation to DEFUND Jack Smith’s witch hunt against President Trump,” Gaetz announced on Twitter.

Gaetz’s latest move came as a response to President Trump’s announcement on Truth Social Tuesday morning that he was likely poised to be indicted and arrested again after receiving a letter from the Biden DOJ and prosecutor Jack Smith, ordering his appearance before the January 6th Grand Jury.

Trump wrote:

“WOW! On Sunday night, while I was with my family, having just arrived from the Turning Point event in Florida, where I won the Straw Poll against all other Republican candidates with 85.7 percent, with all polls showing me leading in the Republican Primary by very substantial numbers, almost everyone predicting that I will be the Republican Nominee for President, and as I am leading Democrat Joe Biden in the polls by a lot, HORRIFYING NEWS was given to me by my attorneys.”

Conservatives were quick to rebuke this politically motivated move from the DOJ, especially since President Trump has already been indicted twice this year in two separate cases.

Gaetz continued, “They are attacking our democracy and engaging in election interference right now. The United States Congress has the capability to stop this election interference, and we must act immediately!”

He pointed out on his show, “Firebrand with Matt Gaetz”: “Is there a single American who believes that Donald Trump would be getting indicted over these things if he were not running for president again, if he was not a political contender?”

He added, “The House of Representatives needs to take action to DEFUND this special counsel investigation IMMEDIATELY.”
