Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-N.Y., said on Thursday she has twice formally nominated President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize and intends to do so again if he is not awarded the honor.
Tenney said she filed her first nomination with the Norwegian Nobel Committee on Jan. 30, 2024, just ahead of the deadline. According to the congresswoman, she was the only current member of Congress to submit a formal nomination for Trump during that cycle.
Her nomination cited the Abraham Accords, a series of normalization agreements between Israel and several Arab nations brokered under Trump’s administration. The agreements marked the first such deals in nearly three decades.
“The Abraham Accords, the first new Arab-Israeli peace agreements in nearly 30 years, were brokered by President Trump, shattering the myth that peace in the Middle East required endless concessions to terrorists,” Tenney said.
Trump acknowledged the nomination in a social media post while attending a court proceeding in Manhattan, writing, “Thanks, Claudia!”
Tenney said she submitted a second nomination on Dec. 11, 2024, also recognizing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. She said the updated nomination was intended to highlight their joint efforts to confront Iran-backed militias and Palestinian terror groups.
“With the 2025 nomination window open, I resubmitted the nomination,” Tenney said. “If President Trump doesn’t win, I’ll file a third nomination. No modern leader has done more for World Peace than President Trump, and it’s long past time he receives recognition.”
Tenney said she remains committed to advocating for the award on Trump’s behalf until the former president is honored.
“I know it. The President knows it. The American People know it and the world knows it,” she said.
The president acknowledged Tenney for her recent support in a Truth Social post on Thursday.
The congresswoman’s support also comes after Rep. Buddy Carter, R-Ga., nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his role in brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Iran following a brief but intense conflict over Iran’s nuclear ambitions. The president featured the RSBN article on his Truth Social account on Friday.
