The United States and Qatar will move to halt Iran’s ability to access $6 billion that was recently given to the country in the wake of the Biden administration’s hostage deal with the Iranian government, The New York Times confirmed on Thursday.
This comes after intense public outcry over the hostage negotiation and the subsequent horrific attacks on Israelis over the past week at the hands of Hamas terrorists. As reported by RSBN, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps allegedly partnered with Hamas to coordinate the brutal invasion of Israel.
President Donald Trump also criticized the Biden administration’s decision to dole out $6 billion dollars to Iran in the highly controversial hostage deal, calling on U.S. leaders to freeze the assets.
He wrote on Truth Social, “CROOKED JOE BIDEN MUST TAKE BACK AND FREEZE THE 6 BILLION DOLLARS RIGHT NOW, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. HOW COULD ANYONE BE SO INCOMPETENT AND STUPID? BIDEN CAUSED THIS WAR, AND IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE!!!”
According to the NYT, at this time, it is not known if the Biden administration’s freeze on the $6 billion funds into Iran is a final decision or a temporary move amid the chaos unfolding in the Middle East. The outlet also reported that U.S. officials claim that they did not have intelligence that Iran “directly assisted with the assault.”
