The Republican Governors Association (RGA) posted impressive fundraising numbers in a hotly contested midterm election cycle, Washington Examiner reported on Monday.
RGA raised an unprecedented $33.1 million in the first quarter of 2022. During the same time period, the Democrat Governors Association raised $23.25 million. These fundraising figures show that Republican governors raised roughly $10 million more than Democrat governors in the first quarter of 2022.
RGA Executive Director Dave Rexrode told the Washington Examiner, “This record-setting first quarter equips the RGA with the resources necessary to highlight Democrats’ failures and support our Republican incumbents and candidates across the country.”
Based on these fundraising numbers, the Republican Party has a strong opportunity to take advantage of competitive states such as Michigan, Wisconsin, Kansas, and Nevada in the 2022 midterm elections.
As Rexrode pointed out, the powerful war chest of the Republican Governors Association will help shed light on the failing policies of Democrats across the nation.
Democrat governors are particularly vulnerable this year due to the skyrocketing cost of gas, unprecedented levels of inflation, outrage against unconstitutional Covid-19 restrictions, and the unpopularity of Joe Biden.
The midterm elections will reveal whether or not the Republican governors take advantage of their record-setting fundraising and boost in momentum.
