During a Sunday morning interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Whatley provided an update on recruiting poll watchers and poll workers for the upcoming presidential election.
Whatley told Bartiromo, “You gotta be in the room,” when discussing the second component for election integrity. He reminded Bartiromo, “We announced, when Lara Trump and I took over the RNC four months ago, that we were gonna recruit over 100,000 volunteers into our national program, our protect the vote program.”
He proudly told Bartiromo, “Happy to say that we’ve already got 157,000 volunteers who have registered for that program. We’re gonna continue to push for the next 87 days to make sure that we have the biggest, most robust national election integrity program in the history of the country.”
On August 7, Whatley shared a post from the Nevada GOP announcing the “clean-up” of Clark County’s voter rolls.
Whatley captioned the post, “HUGE WIN: 90,000 inactive voters have been removed from the rolls in Clark County, Nevada as a result of our efforts to Protect The Vote. Election integrity starts with clean voter rolls, and that’s why we’ve brought litigation in key states to compel outcomes just like this.”
Voters who are interested in volunteering can go to protectthevote.com to sign up.
Republican governors are also stepping up to the plate to ensure the integrity of the ballot. Virginia Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin recently signed an executive order mandating the use of paper ballots only.
Additionally, the order requires a “documented chain of custody” that will track the ballots through “every step of the process.” He also made clear that the only machines that will be used are ballot-counting machines that simply count the votes. No voters will cast their vote on a machine.
Back in March, Whatley and RNC co-chair Lara Trump announced that the committee would be allocating “massive resources” toward its new election integrity division, which would include the recruitment of “trained poll watchers, poll observers, poll workers, people in tabulation centers all across this country.”
