Republican National Committee officials said over the weekend that the party is beginning the midterm election cycle with $95.1 million in cash on hand, a massive edge over the Democratic National Committee, which reported holding just $14 million.

Year-end filings with the Federal Election Commission show the RNC is also entering the campaign season debt-free. By contrast, the DNC disclosed roughly $3.5 million in outstanding debt.

The fundraising gap extends beyond the national party committees. House Democrats are trailing their Republican counterparts as well. The National Republican Congressional Committee reported raising $117.2 million in 2025, while Democrats brought in $115 million.

In the Senate, Democrats hold a narrow advantage in cash on hand. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee reported $21.7 million on hand, compared with $19.3 million for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, according to the Associated Press.

However, Republicans outpaced Democrats in overall Senate fundraising last year, raising $88 million in 2025 compared with $79.8 million raised by Senate Democrats.

Taken together, the figures highlight a financial advantage for Republicans as both parties prepare for an expensive and highly competitive midterm election cycle.

“We’re going to have a war chest to run on,” House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said on “Fox News Sunday.”

The news comes as President Trump urges Congress to pass a funding deal to end the current partial shutdown.

“I am working hard with Speaker Johnson to get the current funding deal, which passed in the Senate last week, through the House and to my desk, where I will sign it into Law, IMMEDIATELY! We need to get the Government open, and I hope all Republicans and Democrats will join me in supporting this Bill, and send it to my desk WITHOUT DELAY,” he posted to Truth Social on Monday.

“There can be NO CHANGES at this time. We will work together in good faith to address the issues that have been raised, but we cannot have another long, pointless, and destructive Shutdown that will hurt our Country so badly — One that will not benefit Republicans or Democrats. I hope everyone will vote, YES!” he added.
