The Republican National Committee said it received nearly 500 election-related reports and tracked 28 bomb threats during last week’s elections, highlighting what party leaders describe as an aggressive push to secure voting ahead of the 2026 midterms.

The RNC said its election integrity teams were fully deployed in New Jersey and Virginia on Nov. 4, investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in both states. The committee recruited 964 poll workers in New Jersey and placed 463 at polling sites, more than twice the number from previous elections.

“Election integrity is essential, and the RNC is leading the fight to secure the ballot,” RNC Chair Joe Gruters told the Daily Caller. “In New Jersey and Virginia, our teams resolved hundreds of issues in real time, defended ballot security laws, and made sure every lawful vote was counted. While Democrats try to make it easier to cheat, Republicans are safeguarding confidence in our elections.”

Gruters posted on X that the RNC’s election integrity operation is “already operating at full speed ahead of next year’s midterms,” adding that President Donald Trump has directed the party to prioritize ballot protection.

That effort faced a major test in New Jersey, where Election Day was disrupted by emailed bomb threats and other security concerns. State officials confirmed that polling sites in at least seven counties were temporarily evacuated or relocated while police responded.

While Democratic officials called the threats “not credible” and said voting could continue safely, Republicans warned that even temporary closures can discourage turnout and erode trust in the system.

RNC election integrity staff tracked the duration of each precinct’s closure and collaborated with local officials to ensure that all voters could cast their ballots. In addition to the security incidents, the RNC logged 478 Election Day issues, including machine malfunctions, check-in errors, and accessibility concerns.

In one case, the committee went to court to block Bergen County officials from counting more than 300 “naked” mail ballots that lacked the required inner envelopes. A judge sided with the RNC, ruling the ballots violated state law.
