President Trump’s Cabinet meeting on Wednesday included powerful updates about the progress made during the first 100 days of his administration.
Secretary Marco Rubio’s recap was nothing short of remarkable as he skillfully communicated his department’s successes and intentions.
Rubio began his remarks by commending Trump for his “less talk, more action” approach to getting things done.
He recounted how administrations have historically operated by making promises and failing to follow through, despite years of studies and internal reviews.
Rubio applauded Trump for his no-nonsense approach to delivering results. “It’s measured, I used to say, by days and weeks, now it’s measured by hours and minutes, but action is happening. And that’s what people want to see.”
He shifted to discuss Trump’s approach to foreign policy. “This President inherited 30 years of foreign policy that was built around what was good for the world,” noting that every trade and foreign policy decision was previously weighed by its global effects.
“And under President Trump, we’re making a foreign policy now that’s, ‘Was it good for America?’” Rubio remarked.
He made clear what he was selected to do in his position as Secretary of State. “I was appointed by you and confirmed by the Senate to be the head of the United States Department of State. Not the world department of state, not the global department of state, the United States Department of State.”
He listed the three principles guiding his department’s decisions: “Does it make America stronger? Does it make America safer? Does it make America richer? If something doesn’t do one of those three things, and hopefully all three of those things, we’re not doing it.”
He recognized the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for its assistance in making those determinations, especially regarding foreign aid.
“We were funding some crazy stuff, crazy stuff,” Rubio emphasized. He said that his department eliminated those and much more wasteful spending.
One hot-button topic that was unsurprisingly brought up by the press pool was that of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an illegal alien from El Salvador who was recently deported to his home country.
When asked if he had “been in touch with El Salvador about returning Abrego Garcia,” Rubio bluntly stated, “Well I would never tell you that and you know who else I would never tell? A judge. Because the conduct of our foreign policy belongs to the President.”
Rubio noted that deporting illegal migrants, especially criminal illegal migrants, was full steam ahead. “I say this unapologetically. We are actively searching for other countries to take people from third countries.” He noted that they preferred the countries to be “the further away from America, the better, so they can’t come back across the border.”
He reiterated his remarks, saying, “I’m not apologetic about it. We are doing that. The President was elected to keep America safe and to get rid of a bunch of perverts, and pedophiles, and child rapists out of our country.”
