In light of Colorado’s attempt to remove President Trump from the ballot. House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., has come to President Trump’s aid on social media.
On Tuesday, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled to remove President Trump’s name from the state’s ballot box, using the Constitution’s Fourteenth Amendment. The court ruled that President Trump was disqualified from the ballots in Colorado because he had supposedly engaged in insurrection during the Jan. 6 attacks, according to RSBN.
After hearing the shocking news, Johnson took to social media to voice his support for President Trump. On X, he wrote, “Today’s ruling attempting to disqualify President Trump from the Colorado ballot is nothing but a thinly veiled partisan attack.”
Johnson also wrote, “Regardless of political affiliation, every citizen registered to vote should not be denied the right to support our former president and the individual who is the leader in every poll of the Republican primary.”
RSBN reported that President Trump’s presidential campaign responded to the ruling. They are calling it a “scheme to interfere in an election on behalf of Crooked Joe Biden” and a desperate attempt by Democrat leaders to prevent President Trump from winning.
President Trump’s campaign will file an appeal with the United States Supreme Court in response to the ruling. President Trump’s campaign will request a stay for what Steven Cheung, President Trump’s spokesman, says is a “deeply undemocratic decision.”
In closing, Johnson appealed to the United States Supreme Court, writing, “We trust the U.S. Supreme Court will set aside this reckless decision and let the American people decide the next President of the United States.”
It’s not just Johnson who has voiced his outrage at the ruling. Republican Vivek Ramaswamy has withdrawn his campaign from Colorado until President Trump is allowed on the ballot. Tennessee Rep. Diana Harshbarger (R) wrote on X, “The Left will do everything they can to undermine our Constitution and the 2024 election.”
