Former Trump advisor and “War Room” host Steve Bannon has been ordered to report to prison on July 1, 2024, to serve out a four-month sentence, following a months-long stay on the punishment, multiple reports have confirmed.

Bannon, who was initially found guilty of failing to comply with a congressional subpoena issued by the Jan. 6 Committee, was sentenced to 120 days of prison time in 2022, per RSBN.

Following his sentencing, Bannon filed an appeal for his conviction and U.S. District Judge Carl J. Nichols granted a stay of the sentencing while the appeal of the conviction was litigated in court. Since then, Bannon’s potential jail sentence has loomed on the horizon like a dark shadow for the popular conservative commentator and host.

According to CNBC, Bannon has been ordered to report for his prison sentence on July 1, where he will serve four months in prison, which means he will be released tentatively on the tail end of the general election season.

The report noted that the possibility that his sentence could be stayed by a higher Court of Appeals or even the U.S. Supreme Court was still on the table, although it seems unlikely at this point.

If Bannon reports to prison as planned next month, he will become yet another former member of the Trump administration to face jail time. Recently, former White House advisor Peter Navarro began serving his sentence in a Miami federal prison for being convicted of the same thing as Bannon: flouting a congressional subpoena.

Turning Point USA President Charlie Kirk described the sentencing of Bannon as “Direct election interference,” noting that the prison sentence edges up to the week of the general election in November.
