President Donald J. Trump walked into the RNC on Monday night, exhibiting strength, resilience, and defiance as he showed the world that he is unafraid to push onward toward victory.
Close to 10:00 p.m. ET on July 15, the first night of the RNC, President Trump arrived at the convention as the official GOP nominee and received a hero’s welcome. With thunderous applause, convention attendees stood to their feet and let out cheers for President Trump, who dodged death just days prior when a would-be assassin’s bullet missed his head by just a couple of inches, instead hitting his ear.
While he did not take the stage on Monday night, President Trump first appeared on the big screen, with a loose white bandage on his ear, showing his fearlessness to his supporters. The crowd’s love and adoration for President Trump and pure joy that he is still standing with us today was an incredibly moving scene.
“God Bless the USA” singer Lee Greenwood gave a short speech honoring this special moment. “Is there any doubt who is going to be the next President of the United States?” he asked the crowd. “Prayer works…because [the shooter] was sure as Donald Trump turned his head just slightly that the bullet missed him just enough to save his life to be the next President of the United States,” said Greenwood.
As Greenwood began singing his patriotic tune, which President Trump walks out to at his rallies, the 45th president made his entrance in the arena at the RNC. “He is here tonight to show his courage, his defiance against somebody who tried to kill him. You will not take this man down. He has the courage, the strength, and he will be the next President of the United States.”
