Survey: Biden’s proposal to send massive payments to illegal immigrants is very unpopular with Americans

A new poll released Monday shows that 67 percent of American voters are against Joe Biden’s plan to pay illegal immigrants $450k for being prevented from illegally entering the United States under President Trump.

After a week of news dominated by the 2021 referendum on the Biden administration’s far-left policies, a survey shows a majority of American citizens are opposed to sending massive amounts of American tax dollars to illegal immigrants who broke the law upon entering the country.

To many, Biden’s move is a slap in the face to American citizens who lost their loved ones in endless wars, live in poverty, lost their business in the pandemic, and many other hardships that people living here legally face.

This poll comes as a response to the Biden administration’s recent push for a financial settlement with an undisclosed number of illegal immigrants who were separated from family members while trying to illegally enter the United States during the Trump administration.

The Biden administration has not sent a clear message to Americans regarding this issue, leaving them confused surrounding the details of this proposed settlement. During a White House press conference on Friday, Karine Jean-Pierre, the deputy press secretary, shocked reporters with her response to questions pertaining to this policy.

Deferring to the Justice Department, the deputy press secretary told Fox News’ Peter Doocy that she could not make comments regarding that matter which, according to her, is President Trump’s fault.

Jean-Pierre’s comments further complicate the administration’s attempts to convince American voters that illegal immigrants should receive federal tax dollars for attempting to illegally cross the border between the United States and Mexico.

While attempting to dodge questions concerning this controversial policy, Jean-Pierre appears to have given at least one answer, however. The Biden administration has no plan to reward those who enter the United States legally. Instead, the administration will focus on rewarding settlements to those who cross this nation’s border illegally.

The process of entering the United States legally has long been a cornerstone of U.S. policy. Yet, in recent years, it has become the topic of endless debate between Democrats and Republicans. The current administration has rolled back most of Trump’s policies that secured the southern border and ensured the safety of American citizens.

Trump campaigned on securing the border and upholding the legal path for citizenship in the United States. The border crisis was a major focus in both the 2016 and 2020 elections. Construction of the border wall was initiated by the Trump administration, significantly reducing the number of people illegally crossing into the United States.

After Biden rolled back Trump’s border policies, the border crisis has plagued the current administration for the past several months. The potential settlements with illegal immigrants have renewed the tense battle between Democrats and Republicans over the border and immigration policies.
