Several Trump-endorsed candidates cruised to victory in Tuesday’s primary elections across four states, foreshadowing what’s to come as the nation heads toward the November elections.
In Arkansas, former Trump White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders scored an unsurprising victory against former radio talk show host Francis “Doc” Washburn in the Republican primary for governor.
The Associated Press quickly handed the win to Huckabee as she maintained a significant lead over her Republican opponent.
However, her victory seemed inevitable when she raked in about $15 million since announcing her gubernatorial bid and landed a well-deserved endorsement from the 45th president.
The governor hopeful also had over $7 million in cash on hand for her campaign by the end of April, outpacing all Republican and Democrat competitors.
Sanders is likely to follow in the footsteps of her father, Mike Huckabee, who served as the state’s 44th governor.
In the Lone Star State, incumbent Attorney General Ken Paxton defeated George P. Bush in the GOP runoff with a wide margin of votes.
According to Fox 4 News, Bush conceded the race before 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night.
“Things didn’t go as we planned. But after the tragic events of earlier today, it’s important to keep life’s temporary disappointments in perspective. There are grieving parents in South Texas today. My family and I are grieving with them,” Bush said, recalling the earlier events that day after a gunman horrifically killed 19 children and two teachers in a school shooting.
After winning with 68 percent of the vote, Paxton redirected the attention to the mass shooting during his victory speech.
“We’re going down there [to Uvalde] tomorrow,” Paxton said. “We’re going to do our job tomorrow. We’re going to try to help these people.”
In Georgia, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and NFL legend Herschel Walker came out victorious despite multiple attempts by Democrats to underscore the candidates.
Incumbent for the state’s 14th district, Greene snatched the GOP nomination by 70 percent of the vote by Wednesday morning.
Walker maintained an overwhelming lead against five GOP challengers and won 68 percent of the vote.
The two are favored to roll out another victory in the fall.
