NFL legend and Trump-endorsed candidate Herschel Walker effortlessly defeated all Republican challengers in Georgia’s Senate primary Tuesday night.
AP called the race nearly one hour after voting closed as Walker maintained an overwhelming lead against five Republican candidates, including Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black and former Trump administration official Latham Saddler.
With 99 percent reporting as of Wednesday morning, Walker won with 68 percent of the vote.
Trump endorsed Walker back in September, calling him a “friend, a Patriot, and an outstanding American who is going to be a GREAT United States Senator.”
“Herschel Walker will never let you down. He was a great football player, and will be an even better U.S. Senator – if that’s even possible! He has my Complete and Total endorsement!” Trump added.
Walker’s primary victory should come as no surprise as the former Georgia football star dominated the polls leading up to election night while gaining a broader lead on his Democrat opponent Sen. Raphael Warnock, despite vicious attempts from the media to halt his momentum.
“As usual, the left and the media are making everything about race,” Walker tweeted, slamming Democrats and the media for fabricating a racial narrative ahead of the Peach State’s primary. “I’m going to win this seat because Georgians know I’m the most qualified for the job.”
Georgians’ tremendous support for Walker will surely hand him another victory in the fall as he attempts to oust Democrat Raphael Warnock from the Senate seat.
