The First Couple participate in a special White House event just for kids

President Donald Trump and the First Lady on Tuesday attended a special White House event honoring “Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day,” taking a moment to partake in some lighthearted fun amid their pressing schedules.

The White House announced the event last week, noting that it was open to children ages 5 to 12 and up to two children per member of the press.

Participation tickets were awarded on a lottery system, ensuring fair and even attendance.

During the event, First Lady Melania Trump took the time to sit with a group of children assembled at craft tables in the Kennedy Garden, partaking in the arts and crafts with them and speaking intentionally with the kids.

The children appeared to be painting and decorating wooden American flags. Many of the kids in attendance also sported “Gulf of America” baseball hats.

The First Lady wore a chic white blouse and a green and white skirt. She kindly perused the children’s art and conversed with them throughout the event.

President Trump arrived later during the event, capping off a busy morning at the U.S. Capitol, where he met with GOP lawmakers and pressured them to pass the “One Big Beautiful Bill” in Congress.

Video captured online showed the president standing just behind the White House while a crowd of children and families looked on. The president playfully danced to one of his favorite rally songs, “YMCA.”

“Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day” has become a modern tradition in the White House. Originally created by Gloria Steinem in 1992 as “Take Our Daughters to Work Day,” her foundation later added boys to the equation in 2005, according to the National Women’s History Museum.
