Ignoring a 10:00 p.m. curfew and throwing snow at the newly imposed vaccine passport requirements, French Canadians locked mittens in the streets of Montreal this weekend.
Several thousand attended the anti-mandate demonstration, according to Epoch Times Canada, and the protestors were not solely the unvaccinated. Many of them had taken at least the first or second dose yet decided to stand with their countrymen in opposition to the evolving edicts from Prime Minister Trudeau.
“They’re trying to turn the non-vaccinated into the scapegoats of this pandemic,” Maxime Bernier, the leader of the People’s Party of Canada, said at the rally. “The real scapegoats are the politicians ruling us.”
“The tyranny has to stop, it’s gone too far. I’m here to stand up for my rights, my kids’ rights, everything,” delivery truck driver Marshall Golding told Epoch Times.
Tyranny became more apparent as night fell, with police donning riot shields, masks, and helmets to arrest protestors for being outside past the appointed time of curfew.
“They are arresting people right now, like randomly,” Rebel News’ Alexa Lavoie can be heard saying as she recorded arrests in the street.
“All this paid for by the taxpayers!” she tweeted after the protest.
Speaking of payment, $6,000 fines are being levied against Canadian citizens for the high crime of breaking curfew, which runs between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., regardless of vaccination or antibody status.
The restrictions are set to get worse as a new round of segregational rules for the unvaccinated go into effect starting on Jan. 18. Later this month, state-owned liquor and cannabis stores will be off limits to those who have chosen not to roll the dice with the jab.
In order to qualify for the state’s vaccine passport, legislators are now discussing requiring three doses to be considered “fully vaccinated.”
